Guenther Wetzel Trades Bursary

Guenther WetzelThe late Guenther Wetzel believed in the real value of tradespeople – electricians, plumbers, welders, carpenters, masons, and all those other skilled workers without whom nothing would get built and nothing would function. To honour Guenther's appreciation for these folk, and to encourage young people to pursue a career in a trade, his wife Donna Havery Wetzel has established the Guenther Wetzel Trades Bursary through The County Foundation.

A single bursary of approximately $1,500 will be awarded to the successful applicant. Applicants will have applied and been accepted at a post-secondary institute offering formal instruction in a trade. The bursary will be paid directly to the post-secondary institute, on behalf of the student, and can be used for tuition or other costs and fees levied by the Institute.

How to Apply

Applications shall be in the form of a one to two page letter. The letter shall describe what trade the student intends to pursue, and the reasons they want to pursue. Attached to the letter on a separate page will be a copy of the confirmation of acceptance into a trades program at a post-secondary institute.
