The County Foundation is excited to announce a new bursary fund established by the Prince Edward Flying Club (PEFC). This bursary is designed to support an individual from the Prince Edward County area (or anyone who has a strong connection to the area) pursuing studies in the aviation field (pilot, aviation mechanical engineer) at a college or university certification program.
The Prince Edward Flying Club bursary will be awarded annually, and the recipient will receive $1,000 toward their studies in an aviation field. PEFC was established in 1953 and since then has continued to welcome members and visitors alike, hosting fly-ins as well as other events throughout the year.
The creation of this new bursary follows Prince Edward Flying Club's successful Find YOUR Wings Career Fair which focused on encouraging girls and young women to consider a career in aviation.
"Prince Edward Flying Club is thrilled to partner with The County Foundation to launch this new bursary program. As our club members reflected on the flying club’s history and our 70th anniversary in Prince Edward County, we decided that it was the perfect time to offer assistance to a resident of the County as they pursue further education in an aviation-related field. Our overall goal is to encourage a new generation of aviation enthusiasts.”
Mary Rae Main, Member of Prince Edward Flying Club.
