The County Foundation is one of 207 community foundations across Canada, offering collaborative leadership and funding to support initiatives that benefit our community. Our ongoing work as an asset-builder and grant-maker provides a strategic perspective from which to see trends, challenges, and connections in our community.
The County Foundation has 3 core activities:
Mission and Vision
Mission: To inspire giving, facilitate grants, and support collaborative action to address identified community needs by linking a caring community with causes that matter.
Vision: Working together to build a place where everyone belongs and all can thrive.
A Community Foundation is a powerful thing
Vital Signs
Vital Signs® is Canada’s most extensive community-driven data program, led by community foundations and coordinated by Community Foundations of Canada. Vital Signs uses local knowledge to measure community vitality and support action towards improving collective quality of life.
In 2013, The County Foundation published the first-ever PEC Vital Signs Report. This initiative has evolved into regular reports and an ongoing database of Prince Edward County’s socio-economic data.
Grants & Funds
Since 2008, The County Foundation has been building permanent endowments and funds to support organizations and people in this community. With our close connections to the non-profit sector, we provide insightful, effective grant distributions to improve the quality of life in our community. Grants are distributed to registered charities via Donor-Directed Funds, scholarships, and funds we manage.
We make it easy for our donors to support causes that are important to them. Whether it’s establishing a fund in your area of interest, or giving where the need is greatest through federally-registered charities, we’ll ensure prudent financial management results in maximum returns for legacies that are respected in perpetuity.
Collaboration With Other Organizations
The County Foundation supports local organizations through collaborative action and capacity-building on issues identified in the Vital Signs Reports. We have also supported the Police Services Board in development of Community Safety and Well-being Plans.
