Introducing the Vital Impact Fund: The County Foundation's New Data-Driven Signature Fund

Gillian Armstrong

The County Foundation is thrilled to announce our new signature fund, the Vital Impact Fund, bringing together the work of our Vital Signs data and our grants to better serve the needs of the Prince Edward County community.

In 2024, there will be approximately $200K in grant funding available for initiatives focused on addressing the 9 key issues of Vital Signs. This includes Community, Economy, Education, Environment, Food Security, Health, Housing, Safety, and Transportation.

Vital Signs is a national community-driven data program led by community foundations from across Canada. Vital Signs® data is an ongoing consolidated snapshot of the trends and most vital issues in Prince Edward County.

The County Foundation uses our Vital Signs reports and data, conversations with community leaders and experts, and our grant knowledge to inform the decision-making process as part of the Vital Impact Fund.

“Since we began reporting on Vital Signs in 2013, The County Foundation has used this data to guide much of our work. The trends and needs highlighted in these reports made it clear: the time was right to create a fund directly linked to the community's most pressing issues. Thanks to the generosity of the Wynne Thomas estate, the Katherine and Douglas MacPherson estate, and contributions from the County Foundation's discretionary funds, we are proud to launch the Vital Impact Fund – an initiative dedicated to supporting our community in a meaningful way.”
Dominique Jones, Executive Director of The County Foundation.

The Vital Impact Fund will be responsive and shift priorities as required as the needs of Prince Edward County continue to evolve and change. The County Foundation is currently accepting applications for the Vital Impact Fund until Thursday November 21st 2024.

The County Foundation has published the 2024 Vital Signs report titled Navigating Change: A Decade of Vital Signs. This year’s report reflects on the first Vital Signs report published in 2013, examining where things have come, as well as looking forward to upcoming challenges and opportunities for the community.

The County Foundation will be hosting a webinar on the Vital Impact Fund on Tuesday October 29th at 10:30AM. We encourage anyone interested in applying to the Vital Impact Fund to attend this webinar and we look forward to sharing more with our community about this new fund.
