The County Foundation delivers $192,000 to 8 community service organizations through the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund.

The Community Services Recovery Fund is a one-time investment of $400 million  to help community service organizations (charities, non-profits, Indigenous governing bodies) adapt, modernize and be better equipped to improve the efficacy, accessibility and sustainability of the community services that they provide through the pandemic recovery and beyond.

“The investment from the Community Services Recovery Fund is a much-needed boost for a sector that has overcome many obstacles through the pandemic. This funding is supporting a wide range of services from health to arts, food security, housing, end of life care and education all focused on making Prince Edward County a place where everyone belongs and can thrive.”

“Community service organizations are at the heart of communities like Prince Edward County, creating a sense of belonging from coast to coast to coast. The Community Services Recovery Fund will enable organizations that serve our diverse communities to adapt and modernize their programs and services and to invest in the future of their organizations, staff and volunteers. Together, we can rebuild from the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic and build a more just and equitable future for those in Prince Edward County.”

Feedback from Recipients

"The reading deficit caused by the pandemic was substantial and most pronounced for children who were previously struggling with literacy. Post pandemic the demand for books from County Kids Read increased 35% while the number of volunteers in our organization has decreased. With the funding from the Community Services Recovery Fund , County Kids Read will hire a consultant to design an operational framework to address our longevity and ability to meet increased post pandemic demand for services."

Anne Preston, Board Chair for County Kids Read, Grant Recipient

"In 5 years, our team has tripled in size and our offerings diversified to include a complex array of new services for artists, community groups, and residents - including the over 500 participants who have engaged in our community arts programming since the 2022 launch of our new County Arts Lab. This Community Services Recovery Fund grant will allow us to develop our first Communications Strategy and Plan, which will help us more effectively reach and engage with current and new audiences, and transition to a more efficient cloud-based accounting system to enable staff to spend more time delivering on our mission."
