From Vital Signs: More than ever before, higher education is essential for avoiding poverty and improving one’s well-being. Lack of education limits a person’s chances in life, including their earnings opportunities and economic security. Those with more years of schooling have longer lives, report a better health status with a lower occurrence of chronic diseases and disabilities, and are more likely to vote and participate in the community.
