Municipal Community Grants Program

Grants are available to not-for-profit and community-based organizations for projects which enhance the County’s quality of place and the local economy. The Municipal Community Grants Program is made possible through funding from the County of Prince Edward in partnership with The County Foundation (TCF) to augment funding and administer the program. The County Foundation contributed an additional $4,154 toward the Under $5k grant stream. In total, $20,769 was granted toward the under $5k grant stream for 2024.

The following municipal grant programs were administered by The County Foundation:

  • Grants over $5,000 – Total Funding Available ($129,716)
  • Grants up to $5,000 – Total Funding Available ($16,615)

"Year in and year out, many volunteers work tirelessly to make this place we call home a vibrant and exciting community. We are incredibly proud to support their efforts through the Municipal Community Grants Program. There's no doubt that investments in these organizations will pay huge dividends throughout 2024." Mayor Steve Ferguson

"The Municipal Community Grants program continues to see an array of projects and services enriching Prince Edward County. This year, we're proud to highlight the support allocated to vital sectors such as health and arts, representing 35 per cent and 22 per cent of the funding, respectively. Additionally, grants were awarded towards organizations focused on the environment, heritage, recreation, youth and education. We look forward to seeing the impact of these projects and programs." Dominique Jones, Executive Director of The County Foundation

Application Process

Municipal Community Grant funding is based on approved funding by County Council during the annual budget deliberations. The County Foundation administrates the program on behalf of the municipality and this year accepted applications until March 18th 2024.

The Municipal Community Grants program is highly competitive and often there are more applications for funding than funds available. The program strives to disperse funding across a variety of sectors (from arts to health to recreation) as well as across Prince Edward County. The adjudication committee assembled by The County Foundation is meant to reflect the values of the program with diverse backgrounds and areas of interest who live across the County.

Grants Program Under Review

Municipal staff are working with The County Foundation to review the Municipal Community Grants Program and policy. Early in 2024, community organizations were invited to answer a survey about their experiences with the current program, the services they provide and the challenges they face.

Continued consultation on proposed program changes will happen over the summer. Recommendations will be brought to Council for consideration in Fall 2024, with implementation of any changes prior to launching the 2025 program.
